Is there a reason the low water version was discontinued? Are there performance or installation problems with them?

It requires skilled machining of the drive and hole drilling in the drive which most consumers are unqualified to do so it really wasn't the ideal product for the consumer. If you have access to a machine shop or a local boat shop that is capable of doing such machining we can get it through IMCO for you if you are interested.
