2006-SUPERBOAT 30-Y2K 525/ITS
Re: 6 Blade Propellers Now Available

Similar question as Baja Im having built a 30 Y2K Superboat 4600 lbs with a Merc 525 John Cohen(the builders ) sons boat same as Mine being built had a 525 turning 5300 with a labbed 28p labbed bravo and running 82ish. I will be putting the Merc ITS 71/2 in extension box on the boat as well. Everyone says bowlift, bowlift, bowlift. What are your thoughts on the P5X labbed 28, or a 6 blade.

Re: 6 Blade Propellers Now Available

The 5B and 6b propellers work well on the Fountain and the Superboats. The P5-X is a full lifting propeller and the 6B H-6 is a stern lifting propeller. Please feel free to call and I qwill be happy to go thru your set-up with you all and help determine which prop, P5-X or H-6 will acheive your gols!

Re: 6 Blade Propellers Now Available

Good afternoon Julie, The 6-blade prop really interests me. Especially with your comments about how it really works well with a cat. I am completing a motor change/upgrade to my 31 Awesome. My concern is this, does the 6B need as high of an X dimension as the 5B? I had talked to you last year, and you had told me then that my X may not be correct (too low) in order for the 5B to work properly. New set-up is a pair of 502's with 525 hp each at 5200 rpm. Bravo I drives with 1:50 ratio. No nose cone used.

For a base line, the boat previously had a pair of 310hp merc's running at 4600 rpm at WOT. Same drives using Bravo I (not labbed) 28P props. NET was 70 gps mph.
Would an accurate X dimension be needed here for your recommendations?

Re: 6 Blade Propellers Now Available

Is the Hydromotive H-6 available as a standard prop or just lab only. I like the strength of the standard props.

Viper7,

The Hydro H-6 propellers are CUSTOM. They are lab finished but we certainly can talk about the blade thinkness being custom as well.

Re: 6 Blade Propellers Now Available

I am not sure if I you responded to my question. Would a 38 ft pleasure Fountain benefit from these props, or are they designed for the lighter race boats?

Julie, Will do. It will be about a week longer for my outdrives to be back from being assembled. I can then measure for the correct X dimension. I will call then and you will have all (I think) information necessary. Short of knowing what the new motors would use as far as a bravo 1 prop at 5200 rpm. In speaking with Jim Jones previously about HP vs. props, he had stated that a HP525 used a 32P bravo 1 std. prop to achieve the correct WOT rpm on the 31 boats. Talk to you soon.
