You really need the drive spacer, assuming you have the same X dimension as most Heats of that era. It makes a huge difference. Question for you...when you accelerate hard out of the hole, does the prop blow out as the boat rolls over on plane? If it does then your X is too high for that boat. What most of us have experienced is the Heat is much faster in rough water, but sticks to smooth water. When you add the spacer, the trim will losen the boat up and it will run much better in smooth water or with weight in the front.

Here's an example. I had a '04 28 Heat with a Whipple supercharged 540. At the time it was making 770 HP. The boat would run a solid 80, 81 tops. I made a test run, pulled it out of the water and added a 1" spacer. Put it back in within an hour time and ran 85. Midrange slip improved dramatically.

Thats the thing. My prop has never blowen out. I can get on it as hard as I want to and it hooks up. Now I have never hit it wot from a stop with the new whipple. But I have given it about half or a little more and it pops right out of the hole with the 28p bravo. And I have trimed up about 3/4 of the way and shot a huge roost but was still picking up speek with the 28p bravo. So I dont know??? I'm sure that I will still have to put one on. You all know that I cant come this far and still leave so much on the table. I'll post more this weekend after the water testing.
