Formula 271 Fas Tech vs. Nordic 28 Heat

Hello all!

I am Casper from the Netherlands, overhere there are only simple family boats and that is what i do not want....
After some investigation i think i want to buy a Formula 271 Fas tech or a Nordic 28 Heat closed bow.

Can any one give me advise what to do and what not to do, what is better and what not?

Thanks!

It certainly depends on your likes. We went through the same thing when we bought our Heat several years ago. At the time the Formula windshield was a big plus for us but after a side by side comaprison the Heat cabin space coupled with the sleek lines made it a very simple choice. The 28 Heat is much, much bigger inside. I believe the Formula has a narrow beam contributing to this.
We've never looked back; just went longer.
You'd be happy with either I'm sure but this is the Nordic section :)

Casper,
Dave is right this is the Nordic forum so expect some bias! They are both great boats and I agree you would like both. However I think the Nordic lines are far superior to the Formula. Formula is sort of flat with the Nordic having a slight arch to the bow rails?
My two cents!
Good luck.

I am not familiar with the 271 Formula. Some friends have a 29' Fastech, that I do like a lot. It is much closer in size and ride to the Heat. Lots of little cabin and cockpit goodies. If you want a "big", fast, single engine step vee, it's hard to beat the cabin space, performance, and looks of the Heat.
If you want plush, the Formulas are very nice boats. It would be interesting to see how one of these boats would run with big power. Back in the F1 and F2 APBA days, the Formulas seemed very competitive.

Steve

I have a customer that wants to trade in his 08 29ft fast tech. His fast tech has a pair of 6.2's in it ,and runs 68 ish. He is now looking at a 28 heat with a merc racing 525.

When I was ready to purchase a new boat, I did my research, then flew around the US to try out different manufactures offerings. I drove many different boats. My conclusion was that the Nordic 28 heat, was the most versatle, best looking, best finished, mid sized performance boat I could buy. My other serious contender was a Howard 28 due to its great finish work and speed, but it was simply too small for my family of 5 kids. My boat will tow my kids and all their friends on innertubes, haul all my camping gear the the San Juan's, haul 15 adults when needed, get compliments wherever I go, and do over 80 mph at any time. Another big plus is that there is not a lick of wood in my boat. I have a forever hull.

I love my Nordic!

Is the nordic deeper than the 271? Especially in the cabin?

That's looking very good but i can never order that, be cause when i buy a boat in the USA i need CE certificates to get it into Europe and the biggest engine they accept a 496HO.
