Heat Raylar 525: What Prop at 6,200 feet
I am heading to Tahoe and want to try out some props that will work at 6,200 feet up.
Should I try a PX5 - 26? Any recommendations? I am looking for overall performance with top speed being important.

I prefer bravos, the 5 blades, in my opinion, make for ill handling at higher speeds. I'm at sea level and with 1.36 gears and run a bravo 26 pitch labbed. If you have 1.50 gears you may want to start with a 26 but have a 28 on hand. I'm sure your elevation will play a role here. Lot's of guys here on oso prefer the p5x, but for my application, it doesn't work well. They do have a good low and mid range. Top speed is good, but handling is a bit off.
I'm running a merc 525 xr/its
Just my O2.

Anywhere between 78 and 82, depending on load, conditions, humidity. I recently had the "latest mercury software" downloaded and it seems that I'm on the limiter more than usual. It may be time for a new prop. I'm only running about 76-77 now. I bent two ears over last year and I quick fixed it myself with a hammer. The prop is definately off now. Not sure if its because of the prop or the new software or a combination of both.
Just a for a baseline for you. My P5X is a 24 pitch and it was pretty close rpm wize.
