What was some of the biggest water you've been in around NY/NJ?
I have been in some pretty big seas. One day with our '94 baja outlaw we decided to cut straight across from fire island straight to sandy hook and holy f'ing crikey! No land in sight and i'd say these waves had to be at least 15 foot high. We would go up one, and just fall off the backside, literally, like there was no water under us. We were just idling of course, maybe a few spots we got just on plane but I was ****ting myself Probably the biggest **** i've been in. Now, i've been in some pretty big water right in NY harbor flying home goin with the waves down the hudson @ 70mph, that will grow some hair on your chest right there. I remember the one time we are flying by bam bam bam, as a 42ft fountain was just idling up and down guys getting soaked, i dunno why they didn't just get on plane, guess no marbles, but they were pointing at us the whole time.

I have no idea the size of the waves on some of the biggest days (I can only guess) that I've been out but they were big enough to cause structural damage to the boat....
I had a similiar trip out to Fire Island (Patchogue) this past summer, hunster was on the boat with me.... Not 15 ft but we were headed directly into a Northeast swell. Good times!!! But after about 45 minutes to an hour of swell jumping @ 55-60mph and reading waves/swells it takes its toll on my mind, more so than my body.
Another time in my Scarab, it ripped two bulkheads away from the side of the boat, the FM radio shot out of the boat and I sprained my wrist on the throttle from impact. It was quartering seas with 20 mph NE winds (swell and chop) coming across Sandy Hook Bay in late October after the NJ boat show.
another time in my Scarab, coming home from point pleasant the bell housing on one of my engines literally broke in half.... It was not long after that day that I knew a 30 ft. boat was too short for the waters off our coast!
Some nasty chit over the years....
BTW Little, how old are you?

I'll have to make a draw between coming back from nyc either a couple years ago , I idled from the vz to sandy hook or this year after the brunch run. We got very wet between perth amboy and the navy pier @ earle after taking the smooth run around the back of staten island. I know the brunch run was rough after hearing they were ducking water over the bow on a 42 ol. The ride with panther was a big swell but the apache handled it very well.

Its a 24 we just put in a 510hp motor by Jc performance in Sept still dialing in with prop but it should hit 80 best in Sept was 75.7 GPS with the wrong prop. What speeds do you go low 80's

Yep, we see mostly low 80's, but prolly could hit 85ish if we didn't have all the balast we put up front and also with maybe less than a half tank of fuel. I'd say theres something like 200lbs of metal shot we put up front towards the front of the bow, hehe.
