speed is only really monitored in the no wake areas, never heard of a speeding ticket elswhere. noise, however, is dep's thing...must love their noise monitoring toys and writing $200 tickets, which you don't have to pay if you have proof you remediated your noise producing equipment...

I believe there was some kind of "officially" sanctioned event near Middletown last year but I was not under the impression that it was an open event.
Maybe its old age but I can't imagine anything positive coming from a bunch of loud fast boats running up and down the river.
I think the speed limit this time of year is 45 MPH
If you do go bring a chart!!!!! The river is VERY shallow in most places with narrow dredged channels. Look for the ranges. If you don't know what a range is follow someone who does.

SS I agree with everything you say, and have to admit to exceding the speed limit, and probably the noise limit, on the river from time to time. But one boat once in a while will probably be overlooked. A crowd is going to bring a lot of complaints from the owners of the McMansions that have sprung up on the banks in the past few years. Law enforcement and regulatory changes will surely follow. The owner of one of the Portland marinas told me that there has been effort to make the WHOLE river a "no wake" zone. An outlaw event will not help. Having said that, I will probably be there.

The Ct River Run started out as a run with predominantly single outboard boats. It is progressively attracting more loud sterndrive boats. I think rjr is right...soon there are going to be too many complaints to keep it going. Hopefully that's not the case. I will be there this year, but in a Single OB boat.

i'll be out on the river that day, it's a "family" tradition.....hope i don't get buzzed by a bunch of 100mph speedsters looking to upset my placid day on the historic CT River...
