Lake Winnipesaukee FUN-draising Run a Big Success!

Lake Winnipesaukee FUN-draising Run a Big Success!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just had to send out a thank you to all who came to the 3rd Peter Makris Memorial Run last weekend on Lake Winnipesaukee. Peter was looking down on us and made sure we had great weather for the boat and bike run around the Lake that drew over 370 participants and raised $36,000+ for the Laconia Fire Dept. Life Savings Fund and Water Rescue Team. Hard to understand why area taxes don’t pay for that service, but we’re happy to know that we keep helping them to save lives on the water—the lake is 7 square miles and offers wonderful boating—despite the new speed limit!

It was good to see Cigarette Top Gun owners, Paul Busby, an event sponsor, whose construction company just did a great job on the NASWA Resort’s renovation this winter and Darren Kitteridge, who’s about to become family at the NAZ! Pat Santamaria, Jr. and Sr. were there in Buddy Thomas' Outerlimits, complete with eye candy. Buddy Thomas, another sponsor, through his regional air conditioning company, was also “on board” but not in a boat this year! Thanks for your support and for bringing your sizable crew Buddy! Area Formula dealer, Lakeport Landing also sponsored the event and there was a nice showing of Formulas, Fountains, Sea Rays, and other boats at the docks. My favorite was an ’72 16 footer that Don McCarthy, a Massachusetts resident, and his sons brought up to the lake. He is the original owner--it’s a classic and so is Don!

The team from Fusion Sales Group put on a breakfast and lunch spread that was well worth the price of admission—not to mention a cool T-shirt, a free beer and a police and fire truck escorted ride around the gorgeous Lake, great live music and an all-day party filled with auction and raffle items—now that’s an event worth repeating! Latham Marine donated a $250 gift certificate and Brett May, who many of you know from creating carbon fiber dashes for boats is now doing them for Harleys and he donated one for the auction as well. Cigarette added a jacket and some t-shirts and Fastboats.com added a very festive Patron gift package, so the South Florida performance boat world was well represented! We love doing this FUN-draiser and hope more of you will join us next year! Mark your calendars for June 12—the first weekend of Laconia Motorcycle Week—and it will also be the 75th anniversary of the NASWA Resort and 30th anniversary of the NazBar Beach Bar—it promises to be a summer of BIG fun! See you there!
