Marine Forecast Sunday Aug. 23, 2009: Long Island NY, Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet and 20 NM offshore... NW winds 10-15 knts - Seas 13-16 feet possible....



Should be fun just being a spectator

i would be very suprised if they attempt to race in 12 ft + seas. i raced in stuff like that on waverunners. not a pretty sight. mark

not pretty??? I have been out in house size el nino swells in the pacific on waverunners...better than any rollercoaster!!

not with 15 others on the start gate and accelerating to 70 + speeds you haven,t. my buddy hit the first wave on the start and then face slammed the second swell. he kept mumbling good things about god for the rest of the weekend. it is fun to play in them but can be very dangerous if your not experienced with big wave riding... mark

I realized that when I was looking into it to get directions . I ASSumed it was outside for a "offshore" racing event. Should still be a good show with 2-3 footers , hope the rain holds off.
