Did you put in at Hargroves one day, me and my father were in the Magnum, we raced twice going north on the Delaware River (this was a yellow 24' Baja with Blower motors, motors were just done, the owner did not have enough prop, needed a larger wheel for the added power, waes that you?). I rememeber some of the boats he ran.
Funny you said he was the reason for wanting to go faster. In my childhood my father had 16' and 18' Donzi's, and a 20' Cigarette, and his friends had similar sized boats and every weekend they all went boating, and raced. So every Sunday night after a day of boating was the search for extra mph.
He kinda left the Magnum alone after a while (15 yeasr of tweaking) because he had no one left for those side-by-side races, either there were the 100 mph boats, or less than 80 mph boats. There were many boats that went in the 80-90 range, but none of his friends that he could have had a friendly rivalry with so that each would look for that added 1 or 2 mph which to some is not such a big deal, but is a huge deal when you buddy has you beat by a boat length at the end of a four or five mile race.
I wonder how many other people he was the catalyst for added power from back in the day? Glad to hear you tell me that, good stuff. One thing about my father he would race boats that UI thought he had no business turning around and going after (meaning faster boats), he did not like to lose but he hated not trying to race, he would rather race and lose that to not race at all, he would run anybody.
PS I see you have a 28' Skater with 2.5's. Now that is one awesome boat in my opinion.

Had an Atlantic City night on Saturday night, that actually did not end until about 8:00 AM today, from a start time of 1:00 PM on Saturday. Too, too much.
I definitely want to get together with you guys sometime.
