Default Randy Edsell Gone from UCONN

anyone else think hes a PUNK for leaving the way he did!

didnt even tell the Guys who were on the team after the game or anything, just walked out on them.

Thats such a LAME move IMO.

He knew they would be finding out soon.

Hopefully the guys and the new coach will do, better than what he did here.

Not a big secret at all.

As I forgot to mention, he's now at Maryland. But he's been interviewed and mentioned for a long time now.

A good fit and leaving are two very different things.

I can tell you his players that he didnt even fly home with were pretty hurt.

He Never told them a thing they found out on the tarmac at bradley airport. He should have told them in the locker room after the game at the very least.

doesnt anyone have any class or integrity anymore?

He was a real mentor alright...

I agree that not flying home with your players, and telling them what's going on at that point, is in bad taste. A team is a team, and a coach is a special part of that team. Too many things in sports have become 120% business.

after spending all that money on the facilities, uconn better not cheap out on a coach. they need a BIG name coach to take them to the next level. If they promote from within you can kiss that program goodnight. go get a mike leach type guy........

I dont know if Id say BIG NAME is the ONLY way to go, but you definately need someone who is gonna put there heart into it.

They also need to be able to bring in the new talent and thats where the name would be helpful.
charismatic people are a must in that position because if they cant convince the new talent to come to the school they are screwed.
