Has anyone been out there? At my dad's house in haddam, today the river is higher than it was from the storm surge @ high tide during the storm...which was mega high. The marinas are worried about the docks floating off the tops of the pilings.
I know dock n dine and BTB were under water during the surge, so if it's higher now....???? Not sure when it's gonna peak but Vermont got destroyed and it's gotta come by here at some point. Anyone in/near OS to give us a definate?
Not to mention the debris. My dad said an entire 4-slip dock floated by earlier.
I think we need some reconnaissance

My dad just left his dock in Haddam...not boatable at all up there by the sounds of it. Quick recap:
"Log after log after tree after log, clumps of trees with dirt caught in them forming little floating islands....it's incredible" he says.
Midway marina has their work boats tied to the long dock, facing upstream with the boats in gear idling to reduce the strain on the dock & pilings. THey have a full time "sweeper" defending the dock with a boat, pushing logs out around the dock so they dont pile up on the front. The trash will stop coming at some point but it all slows down when it hits the sound. SO..we need a scout. Who's got a tugboat we can use?

I talked with Bill at Ocean today and he said it was bad down there. It does not look good at all. I am looking for alternative plans for the weekend.

River is still coming up...and it's really really high. Here are a few pics from my dad's. Keep in mind the one during the storm is at a higher-than-normal high tide. The fixed pier is above eye level and the ramp to the floating dock is pretty steep DOWN hill. The next 2 are from last night, and it's higher still this morning.
