Well we got blown out last weekend by Irene, but it looks like we are on for this weekend! We will leave Sat AM and return at some undeturmined time on Sunday. The marine forecast looks good for both days at this point, just a chance of T-storms Sunday afternoon.
I checked the river out in Old Saybrook today and it's pretty stirred up, but for those that need to launch out of there, I dont see why you couldn't cruise at no wake speed down to the Sound. The Sound is a little murky and there's a little crap here and there, but it doesn't look too bad at all and it will only get better between now and Sat. AM. There's always the option of launching from Niantic or the Mystic/Stonington area too if CT people want to avoid the Sound all together.
Also, it sounds like a lot of boats never made it back in the water after the storm, so the marinas on BI are not expecting the crowds they initially were... Which is good news for us!
Anyway, I've talked to several folks who are going and it looks like have boats running from both CT and RI!!!
Post up if you're in.

Sounds good, get Mike and Marisa out there! I think Gerry and Brenda will be coming out too, assuming he gets his prop in tomorrow as planned.
Kevin and Nellie as well as Rob and Kelly are heading out too.
CT folks,
I talked to Sammy and Danny tonight, they had just come back from BI at 6PM. They said the river is crappy (which we knew), but said if you head straight out and run in the center of the Sound it's clean sailing. They said most of the debris they saw was along the coastlines. I guess originally they were heading over to LI, but again ran into a lot of crap as they go closer to the LI coast as well, so they just headed back out in the Sound and went to BI instead (with no issues)... Again, things will only improve in time.
