August 20 and 21 (next weekend) for the Air and Water Show. Racine in-water boat show is this weekend.

Re: Chicago air and water show

Actually the best time to go is Friday 8-18. They practice that day and you see things that they do not do on the weekend. It's like there fun day in the City. They use to blast my building all day, fly up side down at crazy speeds. You just do not see that stuff on the weekend.

I will be taking a group down there on Sunday if anyone would like to hook up. Problem is you really can not tie up to eachother because it is wavey.

Re: Chicago air and water show

We got a slip at DuSable for the weekend, so we will be there. Where is the best place to achor, without getting sea sick (we will have kids and a few newbies)? Or, should we just stay docked at DuSable and enjoy??

PS. Belmont called me on Friday with a 40' slip as well. I have not called back, but someone MAY be able to take it (not sure if they will allow this, or just use the wait list). It might be worth a try? PM me and I will give you the information to try!

Re: Chicago air and water show

The best spot to be anchored (IMO) is right on the half way point of the boundry line outside of Diversey harbor....the boundry starts from there and depending on the coasties they usually quaranteen it off till the break water wall outside the play pen. But sitting there in the middle you have the jets flying right over you head when they make their approaches....few years back during one of the Blue Angles shows one guy flew so low over us i could see clearly inside the cockpit of his plane as he was upside down!!!
