Racine Boat Show

Went Saturday from 11:00 to 2:00 and there was no one there! Absolutely void of any customer traffic. In years past, this was always a busy show with lots of people looking and standing in line to see the bigger boats. Yesterday, you could look down the docks and see salesperson after salesperson.

Good time to buy new, as there were a lot of dealers looking to move many 2005s and 2006s.

That is something. Been there many times since the first one.

Wonder if Mi City is the same, their show is huge.

That show suks if you want anything perf. Really there aren't many cool boats at all. If I am not looking at perf boats, I want to see 50' + Ocean or Viking sport fishes and there are none there. Don't waste your money at MC!

Re: Racine Boat Show

I guess I meant just the boat crowds etc. Racine never had much for go fast but in the days I attended the place was wall to wall people making deals or dreaming.

Never made it to Mi City but alot of people (not the go fast crowd) said it was bigger than Racine. Just wondering if the fuel and wars are killing boat shows.

I am doing great. Nikki and I have been doing alot of boating. I think the boat market right now is dead. You are in great position as a buyer and a terrible one as a seller.

HOw YOU DOIN?

I too was just comparing the crowd size (or lack there of) from one year to another. One could hear a lot of crickets chirping at the Racine show.

I was surprised to see that Grand Sports Center was not at the show. Not sure if they pulled out, or if another dealer has dibs on the show. However, there were no Baja's or Sunsations in Racine.

Boat shows are very expensive. I feel that August is the biggest vacation month of the year and a bad month to have a show. How many boats do you have to sell to just break even. I could tell you that Mark and Jerry at Grand Sport had another record year and really don't have much of inventory left to sell at the show. There are much cheaper ways of getting their name out than a boat show.

I have to agree, most of the performance guys do not get enough action at the local boat shows in the summer to make it worth their while.
