Question Launching boat, Chicago marinas?

Heard some people say there is a 23' limit at the boat launches in the city? Any truth to that?

If so, best place to launch a 30 or so ft Scarab in fairly close proximity to the playpen?

Thanks CPC guys in advance.

Ive launched my old 30' scarab without any issue at Diversey....seen 38 Cig go through there too with no problems.....the launch ramps are tight but take your time and no problem

???

It's probably some city code that's very loosely adhered to....

Chris, for a 30fter, you can go to diversey, burnham, or jackson inner harbor. I have launched at diversey and burnham, diversey wasnt too good because for me it was harder to get to, must drive thru congested traffic to get there, and my 40FT boat trailer would bottom out on their ramps. For you, coming from the southwest burbs, shoot up I55 to LSD and it puts you right at burnham.

Jackson is nice because if you get there early on a saturday, its usually pretty dead at the ramp, so you can take your time, not having to rush. I used to hate waiting in line at burnham with my 40 out back, while five 21ft boats are taking 15 minutes a piece to drop and go. It can get crowded at both diversey or burnham. We liked launching on friday evening, wasnt to crowded.

I launch out of Diversey with a 38 Cig, no problems. Its tight, but it makes you skilled. Lots of go-fasts launch there.

Rick launches his 46 Cig there, Frank launches his 33 Fountain there, Mark launches his 41 Apache there, we even launched Gary Behr's 42 Cig there and he's PARANOID about his boat !

The only complaint is sometimes waiting for the light to change.
