Kinda lookin' like "no." I personally haven't heard anything about the poker run this year...unless Mark has miraculously cooked something up behind the scenes, I don't think it's going to happen.
As for the club...well...there's still a bunch of us that get together and go boating on the weekends, but not as an official organization.
However, if somebody wanted to pick up the ball and run with it, I'm sure we could put together an old-school fun run this summer....

Hi everyone,
I have been very busy with my daughter and other interests. After talking with many people and their current financial situation, I feel many, including myself, have been affected by the recession. Trying to get sponsorship money that is necessary to run a high class poker from companies that are on survival mode is inpossible to do. After discussing with some board members, it was decided to cancel the poker run.
The video is almost complete. Franks brother Dennis has been working very hard on the video with the limited coverage we gave him to edit. He is performing his magic and I am sure it will be wonderful. Due to non-payment from certain people and sponsors last year, the budget left us with no money for the video. I promised Dennis that he will will edit it for us, so I am paying for the video out of my pocket. I will make copys with the pictures and get them out as quickly as possible.
I personally do not want the club to die. I have received so many calls about the club and poker run. I am going to work with Mike Sommer to get a letter out to explain what we need to do to keep the club going as cheaply as possible. There are costs to maintain the website and very few other things. Look for the letter in the near future to help maintain our club. If anyone wants to help out the club in anyway, please call me anytime.

I'm happy to help Mark, even though I never formally became a member... I wanted to get a year under my belt of having this thing before I considered myself 'worthy.' LOL.
The recession has really hurt my business too (I sell cars) and I pretty much bought my boat at the worst possible time, last April. I certainly wasn't predicting economic Armageddon when I plunked down the cash.

IMO the club should take a year off from the poker run and then come back next year with the biggest event ever. 2009 is far from over and this thing has not hit bottom yet.
Why work so hard to get something going and then have low turnout and be sad ???
The club can still do fun runs etc. I would be up for that. We are all in the same boat financially. I have cleaned out my garage and basement and sold what ever I can to get cash to get my boat in the water this year.
I say we start planning now for 2010. And I think the meetings should be held in the Playpen, say about 2 pm on a saturday
