Default Trailering your boat **Alert***

Grand Sport Center had a Fun Run Up on the Chain O'Lakes earlier this month and a few of us did get pulled over and warned about truck and trailer plates. Illinois is cracking down on this law and the penalities can add up to big money. I just sent this out to all my customers and just wanted everyone to know.

SPECIAL ALERT: PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO!!

The State of Illinois is enforcing the proper match of truck and trailer plates. Officers are giving tickets if you do not have the proper plates and fines can get pretty severe. They will charge $1 per pound over the plate limit. Just as a reminder on weights:

Trailer: Weight: What You Need to Have Done:

TA: 3,000 lbs or less Nothing

TB: 3,001 lbs – 5,000 lbs Nothing

TC: 5,001 lbs – 8,000 lbs Trailer certification & inspection

TD: 8,001 lbs – 10,000 lbs Truck & trailer certification & inspection

Remember: Tickets are $1 per pound over and fines can get pretty severe.

For your truck plates:

TA: Nothing

TB: Nothing

TC: Your TC trailer plates need to get certified and inspected

TD: Truck needs to certified and inspected in addition to trailer certification & inspection

** Need to get weight and safety equipment

What is a TF plate?? Are you farming???

TE = 10,001# - 14,000#
TG = 14,001# - 20,000#
TK = 20,001# - 32,000#
TL = 32,001# - 36,000#
TN = 36,001# - 40,000#

I have not found a website that states where the safety inspections are. I did find these three. If anyone else can help find these stations please post. I did hear of one person that did get a ticket for $1,500 already because he did not have the safety sticker on the truck and boat.

Let me clarify:

F on the truck
TG on the trailer

No, I am not a farmer. Too much work for me. I am too lazy.
