Asd-1600

Trying to remove the casing on an ASD-1600. I have removed the thrust tube and snap ring and gear. I have large bolts and some small bolts around casing. I have removed all the large nuts. Small nuts Just spin. Case will not come loose. Does anyone have any further insight on how to remove the main casing? Thanks

The larger nuts, 1/2 inch threads, allow you to seperate the entire unit from the wedge plate. The wedge plate can remain on the boat if the drive is still mounted.
Once you seperate the drive unit from the wedge plate, you will have access to the flat socket head cap screws from the transom side of the drive. That way you can hold the screw with an allen wrench and loosen the small nuts. After removing the small nuts, you can take the cover plate off of the main case. I think there may be dowel pins and also, you may have some silicone to contend with.
Hope this helps.

Got my drive off today. Must have been on there for some time. Found a bearing that was completely rusted. I think that was causing some noise while in gear. Thanks for help stephenA.
