Kevin Cooper sunk OSSVL Laveycraft in Race 1 on Thursday. His boat was totally under water for hours, then salvaged by Seatow. Kevin worked round the clock since Thursday, had parts flown in from CA. He did glass work in the AJ Marina.
He will be racing today. Thank you!
Jim Natoli of OSSVL Team Typhoon held his steering wheel in his hand in Race 1 on Thursday, but the wheel was no longer on the steering column. They sat the rest of the race out on a sand bank, giving interviews. They fixed the steering on Friday. Randy Schleuss won the OPA checkered flag, and possibly the World Championship, in White Typhoon on Saturday. Gives interviews, basks in limelight. On the way back to the docks, he stuffs White Typhoon, nearly sinks it. Coast Guard comes by, gives him a tow.
Jim Natoli, driver of Typhoon, desperate, is on his way to race course in the Black Typhoon SVL. Randy stops the Coast Guard boat, is transferred to black boat. They enter the OPA race late. And then they rip out the steering wheel again.
They scramble, totally desperate. Finally, they find Dave Bennette, the lucky winner of the OSSVL boat raffled off by AMF. He takes his boat apart (not racing) loans the part to Typhoon.
Typhoon will be racing today Thank you, Dave and AMF.
