In 1996 there was Superboat (Extreme), Open (supercat), Modified (SCL), S (SS outboard) , B (SV), A (SVL)...... No F or P classes , V extreme ans so on....

With all the rule changes in the past 10 years the sport is fracturing further and further. All of these rules were to make ONE company look like they were #1. The 850 rule is an attempt to get rid of Chucks engines, Sterling, Stotler, any engine builder. Soon Props...... Then Boats.......

Here is a thought.... Dump the Super classes and run P only rules.

It would make things a little easier.

thats f@#$% funny as s%$#........
this is how the sport gets to where it needs to be.
the smaller boats should move up and the bigger boats should come down and the end result should be one v bottom class to run on saturday with 25 boats(busch series) and one cat class to run on sunday with 25 boats(cup series) with qualifying for positions.

the more classes, the more offshore keeps spinning its wheels

Curtis that is funny,What I do not understand is you are taking a sport that is already infected with problems and then making changes to the rules that further allienate MANY,MANY people only to gain what, nothing except for people to start looking elsewhere to race the boats that they have already spent BIG bucks on and know they have to change. That does not make good buisness sense for anyone except Mercury. They should stick to the current programs and fix some of the other problems that need to be addressed.

Ryan:

I don't race OSS but that was also my understanding of the way in which they either approved or rejected issues of this nature.

If the supercat class is in the process of making this change. Have they (the owners/racers) considered developing a spec that is inline or a variation of the Class One series? This would allow more world talent to compete together in the future....Which is something THEY Class One is very interested in. Thes guys are VERY good. The horsepower and speeds are similar. Let's start thinking towards the future guys.

UNITED WE RACE.......DIVIDED WE FALL.

i just put 750/850 as i rather see 1 class instead of 2 classes, not that i would have both engines in the same class... looks like its going to be classes according to gary's post.... i think the 850's would be interesting as they should be able to make it the whole season without freshening...
