News for all our OSS racers and friends. Boat Capsize.
Just thought I would write to tell everyone that captwk, Bill Kern was in a work related boat accident. While disembarking from a vessel the 57 foot pilot boat capsized trapping him and the pilot boat captain inside. Bill was trapped inside in 54 degree water for over 30 minutes in total darkness. After losing all air pockets he gave up thinking it was the end and gulped water to hasten the inevitable. There must have been an angel in the boat, next thing he remembers is hearing a banging noise and raised his head finding another air pocket. Somehow he was washed into the galley of the boat where there was an escape hatch. Not knowing where he was in the boat he remembered from talking to racers find something in the boat you recognize, a familiar object then work from there. He did this and just before the boat sank he got out thru the escape hatch by feeling his way in total darkness. All together he was in the water over 45 minutes and suffered severe hypothermia (stage 3). Bill is doing better now wants everyone to say a prayer for the pilot boat captain that did not make it out. To help remember who Bill is he is a volunteer for OSS. He owns the yellow and purple Sonic 42 pace boat.

Re: News for all our OSS racers and friends
As a member of the patrol squad and someone who gives so freely of his time and resources, it seems only right that he would come out ok.
What goes around comes around,,,,,
Thank heaven.
See you on the water, Biloxi 07.
