This is why heats are the way to go, If you gain points per heat, and can make adjustments to set up, IE weight, Props.
it could make for some good racing!!

RACE BOATS
|
On the other hand I dont think people want to watch a race where there are no position changes and 40 minuts of boats just following each other and the gap just getting bigger. We all will still race hard for position. Just adding excitement. These are just ideas at this point. Its all good points of the pro's and con's.

How are the two races at LOTO going to work? Two 30 mile races, or one 30 mile and one 60 mile?

I think that if you want our race to be more interesting for the spectators we should do 2 - 30 mile races. We don't get spaced out that quick and we could do half point scoring. 1st place would get 50 points and so on. And then your score is added together from both races. And start the second race in reverse of finishing order. If we do heats they are not going to allow us to pull our boats out to make changes, do another heat, make changes, repeat. That takes too much time. And as for stopping half way through and keeping your position you were in when we stop that's just going to space us out faster on the second go around.

Thanks John.......2 thing we don't talk about the dunk tank, and waves taller than the boat. I saw up to 8 foot on Wendsday. Might be fun.

Keep coming up with ideas,Something must be done.As much as I hate to admit it.I was bored after the second lap in Kenner. If I wasnt friends with all the people racing I probably would have left. Its not a whole lot more exciting in the cockpit either, especially in such calm conditions.I'm sure Orange Beach will be a a whole different story. The motocross scoring sounds like a good idea to me.How about a fugure 8? I bet that will get the fans attention.just kidding! but maybe adding more turns to the race would keep us all closer. The big cats might not like that but the only excitement they provide is when one flips. No offense guys but your race wasnt any more exciting than the SVL.Keep thinking!!

Why not put a chicane between halfway and 3/4 of the way down the straights, or maybe just the back straight? This would be just for the SVL's to showcase their agility. It works great in auto racing since it keeps the field closer together, plus, they create more opportunities to pass. Place the first buoy for the left turn, then the second buoy about 75-150 yards infield for a right turn (the length would depend on the course setup), then sprint towards the main left turn.

I like it too! sounds like there might be some trading paint going on.How about we try something like that on a saturday and then go to the original course on sunday.Maybe each team throw in 100 bucks and winner takes all.maybe each team throw in 500 or 1000.OK lets not get carried away! just a thought.
