thats another thing that I was going to ask........the purse. The 50K purse....is that per race....or does that vary with different races. Sorry if these are dumb questions.........just trying to get some general knowledge on how this all works.

50,000 purse divided by amount of total registered boats. if 20 boats register, its $2500 per boat. If 10 boats in V lite would be $25000. 1st place would be 50% or $12,500. Not too shabby.

The Vee-Lite prize would actually be less since they do not pay an entry fee, but still a good amount PLUS the Mercury contingency money.

What if your the only entry in the class.....say like super vee, cat, etc?

I guess the prize $$ varies by class as well.......different purses for the 850 class, etc.

Thanks for the help as well guys.....this is what I love about the sport as well, I can sit here and get real life experiences from guys like you that are out there racing. Great stuff!!

The prize money is based on the total boats AND the number of boats that show up in your class. The more boats in your class the more the purse.

Purse is the same in all classes. If there is just one boat in the class, purse is for one boat of the 50,000 divided by the total amount of boats registered. As in the above example. You would win 2500 after paying 1500 in registration.

3. Advertised prize money for each race shall be paid on a pro-rata basis based on the actual number of boats registered, entry fees paid and ready to run at each race in the Supercharged Cat, Cat, Cat Lite, Vee, Vee Lite and Cat Outboard Classes. (i.e.: $50,000.00 advertised prize money; 25 boats total registered in the 6 classes; each boat has a value of $2,000.00 in prize money for their class; if a class has 6 boats, then that class shall be paid $12,000.00 prize money)

ah i see now......so in classes like vee lite, cat lite, cat....your winning some pretty decent prize money.

Heck I don't see how some of the Vee or Cat Extreme classes do it with only 1 entry......costs more to run that thing then you actually win.

Boats in the Extreme Classes do not get part of the $50,000.00 purse they race for a percentage of there entry fees back. If you can afford an extreme boat you aren't counting on the prize money.
