Yeah and I guess in all reality........nobody is getting into the boat racing business to get rich. I'm sure you can make some money....but most is spent keeping the boat floating and the team going I'm sure.

How the heck do the Extreme's and the Cats keep going? Sponsor $$ I guess is what helps.

It's not just boat racing, ANY motorsports team that wants to show a profit relies on sponsors, from Motorcross to Nascar to Formula 1. Same basic business model, different dollar amounts.

If you work hard at it you can run your race program on sponsor & prize money. This works in the smaller classes. Don't be crazy with spending and can somewhat maintain your own equipment. At this point you can not MAKE money but can go racing and have it support itself.

BINGO! You do it for the love of the sport, if you can at least come close to breaking even it's well worth it! That and I like it when you get trophys that are bigger than your head!

OK I think I've got a general understanding of it now. Never really knew and didn't want to bug you guys w/ these "dumb" questions. Thanks for all the replies and sorry for hijacking this thread.

Again, I've enjoyed the heck out of myself at each race we've been to. Thanks guys for putting on such a great show and for basically putting your lives on the line to do what you love to do.
