A Big Step In The Right Direction!

It was great to see in these poor economic times, that many of racers from OSS came to the St. Clair River Classic Offshore Powerboat Race, August 1st & 2nd to do battle. Many of us in this part of the country never get to see the OSS race boats and Teams. I can tell you as a long time Offshore Powerboat Racing fan that it was great to see many of you from OSS, who came to race in St. Clair. This is a positive move and I hope one that it will continue for a long time. As a race fan there is nothing more rewarding then seeing a lot of boats racing together instead of just a few and that just creates more excitement for the race fans and the sport as a whole. None of us can change the past but we can try and change the future of Offshore Powerboat Racing and the Org's and their racers will determine the future of Offshore Powerboat Racing. Thank's to all the OSS Race Teams and OPA Race Teams who came to race at St. Clair . You are all responsible for making this race such a great success along with the BWORA and all of the volunteers. Congratulations to all the winners and the racers who made it possible for all us race fans to see all of you in action. To many you are the stars of motorsports. United we race, you have proven it.

Many boats? The only different boats that were here this year were the 4 cat outboards and 3 Vee's. In the past years most of the other boats that were here had been here before. Advertised Jersey Skiffs and only 2 showed and only 1 hit the water and ran- the other made 1 pass by the boardwalk. I have been coming to this race since its start and hope that the economy kept teams away as this year looked like years past when the race was still getting established. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the teams that did show up and just hope that next year things improve and more boats show up as the fans really enjoy all the action of the weekend.
