I dont see any reason why we couldnt approach the local West Marine or Boat/US for some kind of sponsorship opportunity. Provide GPS and Box at dealer cost to the race teams. Nothing out of their pockets and get their name on all race boats and banner at race site.

Sealed GPS, thats the only fair way, OR..........we could have qualifying on the day before the race in a controlled enviroment for top speed. Now that would not only solve the problem, but would also be a blast!!!
I think that if everyone had to do a couple of top speed passes with an official on board to establish your class for the next day.
By the way John, Bobby & our whole group had a blast this past weekend, despite the sh**y traffic going thru NY! Thanks to everyone. Looking forward to AC.

Tom...

I dont think we have the luxury of time to do time trials or high speed passes.

Sealed GPS is definately the best way to go. But why would we need them ??? no one is breaking out.

Hi Bruce,
Never, John & I just decided to save fuel for the course so we ran on one engine on the run down the beach!!!
Johns boat isn't the fastest in the fleet, but it will run 70 +++ GPS in 3 to 4fts all day long!!
Time is always a problem, not enough hours in a day.
We could make the time on the day before if it would stop Raining!!!
Speed trials sure would be fun though!
But if that isn't in the cards, then sealed a GPS will keep everyone playing by the rules.

Time trials or qualifying would be interesting and fun

but Between boats doing final preparations and being on display at the dry pits. And most importantly, Safety and rescue crews having to be present, It just isnt realistic.

You guys only ran on 1 motor??? Damn!!! Pretty impressive

Rain???? whats that??? it doesnt rain down here

Eddie ,
Find the GPS's - I will call you tomorrow
I have a Garmin hand held ( $100) which will record top speed . Only problem with it is where to mount it for satellite reception .
I think it is a great idea !

Jerry

Jerry....You put them in a sealed plastic box either velcro or duct tape anywhere on the dash. Thats how they did it with APBA and it worked fine
