Re: Can you say Point Pleasant Mega Race!

I saw my first and only race in PP in 1981, Satisfaction won in the open class, Bob Latham was the driver in Manawar in a blue Performer. I was their with my cousin Julio de Varona driver of the 37 Cig El Boss, Julio was the original owner of Scorpion Powerboats here in Miami in the 80`s and early 90`s. There was three 36 Carreras , Country Boys, Damm Carrera and El Oso, Willie Falcon and Sal ran in seperate boats, I remember Sal being super upset after the race when his boat broke down at the end. Only Key West has had more viewing fans than that race. Good Luck this year, it is always big water!!!

I thought it happened in FLA. I would have been surprised it that happened here.

Re: Can you say Point Pleasant Mega Race!

We have a suitcase filled with a few thousand pictures of Point Pleasant races as I used to live and race there in the 70's and 80's. As soon as LS JR. gets home tonight we'll scan up some more of memory lane.

Re: Can you say Point Pleasant Mega Race!

Any shots of the pits or the crane area? I like the shots of the awards in Jenkinsons showing all the fans participating and clapping for there favorite teams.

That 1973 race course could really be a rough deal on the wrong day. Classic Offshore Powerboat Racing!
