Mercury Racing Enhances Successful Sterndrive Accreditation Program
FOND DU LAC, Wis., Feb. 06, 2007 – Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the launch of “T.E.A.M. Builder,” the next generation of Mercury Racing’s T.E.A.M. (Total Engine Application Management) initiative.
The Mercury Racing Total Engine Application Management (T.E.A.M.) initiative is a factory-approved integration process for new Mercury Racing marine propulsion systems. The standardized process requires training of the entire OEM boat builder and dealer staff involved with the installation of the new Mercury Racing propulsion system. The program specifies qualified components to be used with the new product along with factory-approved product specifications.
The T.E.A.M. accreditation process has been successful in many ways. One-to-one customer interaction provides Mercury Racing with invaluable feedback and understanding on how are products are installed and operated. The new T.E.A.M. Builder program, a result of what we have learned since the 2004 launch of the T.E.A.M. initiative, expands upon the importance of one-to-one customer relations and the quality control resulting with proper integration of engine propulsion and hull.
The new T.E.A.M. Builder program features accreditation for three sterndrive product families; 502 C.I.D Engines, NXT Drive packages, and 557 C.I.D Engines. A Mercury Racing Product Integration Manager oversees the first installation of each engine family just as in the previous T.E.A.M. process. One change is that the T.E.A.M. Builder process, for The 557 C.I.D. engine family, does not require the accreditation of each boat model. If the Product Integration Manager feels the builder has met or exceeded the necessary requirements during the first install, the builder may install 850/1075 SCi/1200 SCi engines in an unlimited number of models in the future. Mercury Racing will still perform random audits on accredited builders from time to time.
The T.E.A.M. Builder program will focus on individuals installing and operating the product. A Product Integration Manager will provide individual one-on-one training to the engine installer, electrical installer and the boat test operator. After the training and the passing of rigorous tests, installers will be certified for installing and operating Mercury Racing products. The certification of installation personnel is recognized by Mercury Racing as an individual accomplishment and will transfer with the employee in the event of relocation. This certification is the foundation of the T.E.A.M. Builder program and the employee receiving the T.E.A.M. Builder award.
