Hard Rock Casino Biloxi Wins OSS Ozark Roar

FOND DU LAC, Wis., April 27, 2007 – Steve Page and Joey Gratton piloted Hard Rock Casino Biloxi, a 388 Skater catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 850 SCi sterndrive engines coupled to Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives, to win the Offshore Super Series (OSS) Ozark Roar Cat 850 class race Sunday, April 22, in Greers Ferry Lake, Ark. The inaugural event was round two of the 2007 Offshore Super Series (OSS) season. Team CRC won the inaugural OSS Cat 850 (OSSC850) class race at the 2007 OSS season opener March 24-25 in Biloxi, Miss.
Billy Mauff and Jay Muller led the OSSC850 field from the start in their Mercury Racing 850 SCi powered WHM Motorsports. WHM’s lead was short lived, however, when Hard Rock Casino Biloxi diced inside and passed them in a turn midway through the 15-lap race. WHM Motorsports and Team CRC rounded out 2-3. All were powered by Mercury Racing 850 SCi sterndrive engine packages.

OSS Cat Lite
David Wade and Stan Ware piloted Popeye’s Famous Fried Chicken, a 36-foot Skater hull powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI engines coupled to Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives, to win the OSS Cat Lite (OSSCL) race. The father and son team of Mike and George Stancombe placed second in Peppers Racing, a like hull also powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI engines coupled to Mercury Racing dry-sump Six drives and Mercury Racing CNC machined sterndrive propellers. Shocker, TeamPropStop and Learning the Ropes rounded out spots 3-5. All were powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI sterndrive engine packages.
The Stancombes hold a comfortable lead in the national points chase due to a victory at the Biloxi season opener last month.

OSS Vee
It was payback time for the Outerlimits camp as Joe Sgro and Mike Fiore outran Miccosukee Indian Gaming, a Fountain hull piloted by Brett Furshman with Reggie Fountain III on the sticks, to win the 12-lap OSS Vee (OSSV) competition. Sgro and Fiore desperately needed the win. Furshman and Fountain dominated the OSSV field in the Biloxi season opener. Both boats are powered by twin Mercury Racing 525 EFI engine packages.

OSS Vee Lite
Wild Ride pilots Larry and John Kostelac led the OSS Vee Light (OSSVL) field from the start of the nine-lap race but a wide turn in turn one, a maneuver similar to what WHM Motorsports made in 850 Cat competition, cost them the race. Defending OSS Vee Light (OSSVL) World Champion Screamin’ Eagle took advantage of Wild Ride’s mistake to capture the lead and claim their second consecutive victory. Wild Ride, Typhoon and Popeyes/IMCO rounded out 2-4. All were powered by single Mercury Racing 525 EFI sterndrive engine packages.

OSS Cat Outboard
Ryan Beckley and John Talley won the OSS Cat Outboard (OSSCO) competition in their 30’ Skater Car Credit. Bermuda Berrycuda placed second. Both were powered by twin Mercury 2.5 EFI offshore race outboards.
Round three of the 2007 Offshore Super Series is The Pickwick Challenge Offshore Powerboat Race & Festival, May 4-6 in Pickwick, Tenn.
