OUTERLIMITS POWERBOATS POWERS UP WPIX-TV’S LARRY HOFF
FOR THE NEW YORK CITY POKER RUN
Outerlimits Powerboats will take WPIX-TV 11’s morning show host, Larry Hoff, for a high-speed, sun-rise spin around the Hudson River on Thursday, June 14 at 6 AM. Hoff loves speed and this early AM display of power will provide New Yorkers with a sneak preview of the performance boat spectacle of the New York City Poker Run, Saturday, June 16.
This annual nationally-known event, stages at Liberty Landing Marina at Liberty State Park, home to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Jersey City, New Jersey, starting Friday, June 15. Well over 100 performance boats will gather to compete for a $2,500 cash prize for the best poker hand and a variety of awards including Best Looking Boat and Best Looking Crew. The boats will parade north on the Hudson River for the official 12 noon start at the George Washington Bridge. The course covers 75 miles, from Liberty Landing Marina to the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club and, Haverstraw Marina; cards will be picked up en route and posted back at Liberty Landing.
The boats will leave in three waves to safely facilitate the large number of boats involved: The 100+ mph Club, The Speedboat Club and The Sport Boat Club and Historic Offshore Raceboats.
Outerlimits Powerboats of Bristol, RI, had its start 14 years ago in New York and has a loyal 100+ mph following here. The colorful, sleek and fast boats make a statement gathered together at the docks, representing an elite group of “go-fast” Poker Run participants.
However, speed is not the goal of this event—Lady Luck and gathering the right assortment of playing cards along the route will determine the winner. Bragging rights are still important, however, and the show of artistic paint schemes and high horsepower engine configurations create the show that makes the New York City Poker Run an annual “don’t miss” event.
