Miss GEICO brings World-Class Racing
to the “Destin World Cup” this Weekend

DESTIN, FL - (Nov. 1, 2007) –Locals refer to the sparkling green waters in Florida’s Northern reaches of the Gulf of Mexico as the Emerald Coast. This weekend, those waters will host contests for a title as coveted as the precious jewel for which the area is named with the 2007 Destin World Cup.

Miss GEICO, a go-fast catamaran that lays claim as one of the fastest boats in the world, will lead the pack of professional racers gathered for an exhibition of exciting excellence in offshore racing. A hybrid mix of the finest aircraft technology, boating bravado and the most audacious engineering on the water, Miss GEICO is redefining the sport with her unprecedented performance. “What we’ve been able to create with Miss GEICO is potential,” said John Haggin, the visionary owner who stands proudly behind the team. “Miss GEICO is good old-fashioned kinetic energy. Every time the team takes this boat out on the water we’re blown away by the power of the performance. No one knows exactly what will happen next – but we do know the potential and the capacity is awe-inspiring.”

Maximum speeds of more than 185 miles per hour. A flash of green flying through the air like an airplane. Tight turns and drop of the dime reaction times…these are the specifics behind that awe-inspiring power, the specifics that keep all spectators’ eyes on the race course when Miss GEICO is in the water.

Destin – A Destination for Champions
“It has been a banner year for Miss GEICO,” said Marc Granet, driver for the team. “We’ve been able to establish our place in this competitive sport with consistent performances and unbridled passion for what we do. All over the country, we’ve given our fans a show unlike any other.”

The Miss GEICO team is proud of the record-setting speed runs and checkered flags it has captured over the 2007 season – but they look forward to the Destin World Cup where the slate is wiped clean and its any man’s race. “In Destin, it’s winner takes all,” said Scotty Begovich, Miss GEICO throttleman. “The tally stops here and we’ll have a weekend war to settle all scores built up over the season.”

Unlike the national championships that totals points gained throughout the season to determine a champion per class, the World Cup brings together the industry’s best boats for their most powerful performances and crown’s the weekend’s winners as the world’s preeminent offshore powerboat race teams.

A seven-day event, the Destin World Cup is presented by Legendary, Inc. and Destin Commons. More than 50 boats from the Offshore Super Series Powerboat Racing Association are slated for a competition that will infuse the Emerald Coast with unforgettable fun. “We’ll race to win,” Haggin said. “We always do. But, we’ll also have fun and find ways to give back to this community that is opening its doors so graciously to our sport. It’s great to come full circle with our season ending in our home state of Florida. We love every race – but it’s always good to come home.” Miss GEICO’s next stop – Key West – for the Super Boat International World Championship Nov. 4-11.

Miss GEICO, capable of reaching top speeds of more than 185 miles per hour, is propelled by turbine-powered engines – the same ones that saw victory in the First Gulf War, now make winning a certainty for this pioneering team. “We’re adding excitement and increasing expectations,” Haggin said. “Every race is another opportunity to bring greatness to the sport and excitement to our fans.”
