Miss GEICO – World’s Fastest Offshore Team –
Adds Speed and Power with acquisition of Miss Long Lite

LAKE WORTH, FL - (Feb. 18, 2008) - The world’s fastest offshore powerboat team just got faster. Miss GEICO, a 40-ft., turbine-powered marine monster that regularly hits speeds higher than 180 miles per hour, has made her mark on the offshore powerboat racing circuit. With unparalleled performances last year that left records and awe-struck fans in her wake, the AMF-owned extreme performance class turbine rewrote the parameters of powerboat racing in 2007.

The story of a champion continues to unfold with the team’s latest step toward greatness. Fresh off the waters of the Miami International Boat Show, the Miss GEICO team announces the addition of the Miss Long Lite team to its arsenal of go-fast water warriors. A 50-foot catamaran that boasts manufacturer Mystic Powerboats’ trademark consistency, Miss Long Lite catapults the Miss GEICO suite of performance boats into a new category.

“This move helps us transcend into unimaginable levels,” said Team Owner John Haggin. “Now the sport’s fastest, most powerful boats all race under the Miss GEICO name. There is no question our team has the most depth of any in the performance class.”

This unprecedented move illustrates Haggin’s commitment to elevating the sport. Investments in his team’s tools, talents and traditions have infused new energy into offshore powerboat racing’s performance classes and set the stage for an exciting 2008 season.

“We can’t wait to launch into the upcoming season,” said Miss GEICO team driver Marc Granet. “This is undeniably the fastest offshore powerboat ever.” Granet, a veteran who earned his stripes in one of offshore racing’s most competitive classes, the outboard catamaran, knows Long Lite’s twin T-55 3,000 horsepower engines, coupled with the tenacity of his team and crew, equal excellence. “This boat is beyond extreme. We hit 210 miles per hour in seconds,” he added. “There’s just nothing like it on the water.”

The Margin of Excellence
But, the team concedes it will take more than fast boats to claim the 2008 extreme class season. In addition to the Longlite boat, Miss GEICO has acquired the expertise that brought her potential to life. John Cosker, leader of Mystic Powerboats and the Callan/Mystic Crew, one of the industry’s best-known manufacturers, will lend his insight and experience to the team’s winning efforts as Crew Chief of the Miss GEICO Mystic. He will have first-hand oversight of the transition from Long Lite to Miss GEICO. “We’re looking forward to taking Miss GEICO to the next level. This boat is a pretty formidable weapon - backing her with the power and drive that defines the Miss GEICO team will make us unbeatable.”

Regarded as an innovator in an industry that hangs on the hype of “the next best thing” Cosker’s designs, under the Mystic Powerboats moniker, revolutionize team owners’ aspirations. “It’s bigger than the boat,” he explained. “Lots of teams have great boats these days, but to really transform into a monster at race time it will come down to skill, race preparation and drive train. This is a race of attrition and as important as how fast a boat can run is how long it can stay in the race? But in the end, the skill level of the guys inside the cockpit has to rise to the speed of the boat for a team to reach its potential. That will happen with our team – all season long.”

The Callan Cosker duo once sat inside the cockpit of the boat that will now race under the Miss GEICO name. Now, in addition to heading up the boat’s crew, Cosker will remain at the helm of Mystic Powerboats, an 11-year-old venture that continues to evolve with the industry. “Our business is doing great. I loved being in the cockpit,” Cosker said, “But it will be nice to step back and look at the technical side of things.”

“Transferring my knowledge to Marc and Scotty and actually being able to see it applied will be truly invaluable,” Cosker said. Keeping Cosker’s insight close at hand exemplifies the well-known recipe of the Miss GEICO team’s success – her people. In addition to counting the world’s fastest boats among its assets, the Miss GEICO team includes gladiators who guide her through battle with razor-sharp skill and a dedicated crew of the best engineers and marine architects the industry has to offer. Granet, the team’s driver, is joined in the cockpit by industry great Scotty Begovich, a throttleman whose race-winning action is met only by his instinct. “Bringing this boat on board shows how Haggin is taking all the right steps to solidify our standing as the world’s best powerboat racing team,” Begovich said. “We’re adding the sport’s best boats, training our team and crew on how to get the maximum performance out of each and retaining the expertise and insight that made Long Lite a great team to begin with. An investment doesn’t get any smarter than that.”

Ready to deliver a whopping return, the Miss GEICO team heads full throttle into the 2008 season with more than 20 races comprising this year’s schedule. The well-loved crew will continue to bring all of the excitement and performance that has become its trademark, with its new boat cranking the volume to a deafening roar. The expansion makes the most of Miss GEICO’s resources, adding an extra dose of innovation to an existing formula that sets the standard for offshore powerboat racing. Miss GEICO MTI, Platinum and Caveman turbine extreme boats will continue to be expertly managed by the Miss GEICO/Turbine Marine crew which performed so well in 2007. “This is the real deal. We’re playing to win and win big. I hope the world is watching because we’re ready to show our fans what they came to see,” Haggin said.
