U.S. Teams & Nordic Medal At Worlds

Congratulations to Scott Wendt, Katelin Wendt and Jared Cooper! Wendt won the Women's Open gold medal pulled behind a Nordic 21' Cylcone. Saunders earned the Women's Open silver medal also pulled behind a Nordic 21' Cyclone. Hooker earned the Men's Open bronze medal and was pulled behind a Nordic 21' Cyclone for two of the races. Trevor Wendt earned the bronze medal for The U.S. Junior Water Ski Racing Team he too was pulled by a Nordic!

Two of three U.S. water ski racing teams and five U.S. athletes earned medals at the 17th Water Ski Racing World Championships, Sept. 6-18, in Queensland, Australia. The U.S. Elite Water Ski Racing Team, the U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team and the U.S. Junior Water Ski Racing Team participated in the four-race biennial event that included four rounds of competition.

The U.S. Elite Water Ski Racing Team earned the silver medal, tallying 9,758.96 points. The U.S. Elite Water Ski Racing Team consisted of Troy Hooker (Torrance, Calif.), Erin Saunders (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Katelin Wendt (Huntington Beach, Calif.).

The U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team earned the silver medal, tallying 14,704.18 points. The U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team consisted of Andy Anderson (Corona, Calif.), Lori Dunsmore (Boulder City, Nev.), Cameron King (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Jordan King (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Cheryl Ruston (La Palma, Calif.) and Dawn Wallace (Belvedere Tiburon, Calif.).

Anderson earned the Formula 2 Men's bronze medal. Cameron King and Jordan King placed seventh and 13th, respectively. Wallace, Dunsmore and Ruston placed sixth, seventh and ninth, respectively, in Formula 2 Women.

The U.S. Junior Water Ski Racing Team placed fourth, tallying 6,177.17 points. The U.S. Junior Water Ski Racing Team consisted of Deke Douty (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and Trevor Wendt (Huntington Beach, Calif.). Wendt earned the bronze medal in Junior Boys behind a Nordic, and Douty placed seventh in Junior Boys.

Congratulations to the U.S. Ski Racing Team! We are all very proud!
