Default R U Racing with OPA this season?

Hi,

If you plan on racing with OPA this season, make sure you join the emailing list at www.oparacing.com.

We use email to communicate with all our racers, producers and fans so if your not on the list, you won't be getting all the info as it comes out.

If it's easier, you can just send me a PM with your email address and I'll add it for you.

Thanks
Ron

Gdfatha, you came in at 1507, no cigar. - Here's the first email of the year.

Hello Race Fans,

Hopefully you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and are now starting to think about getting your boat ready for the upcoming OPA Offshore Racing season.

It's been very hectic for us. It seems that everyone wants to race with OPA this season. New teams are coming out, old race boats are being refitted, and people are buying boats to race for the first time. This is what it's all about. A high energy fun program that's family oriented and challenges men and machine to their limits. Why the interest in OPA this year? It might have something to do with no entry fees and $25,000 purses, it sure worked in Camden and with the help of our sponsors, we plan on continuing that program through the entire 2006 season. However, since racers will no longer be paying to race, we are going to insist that team uniforms are worn to all meetings and team t-shirts are worn in the pits at all times. You don’t have to spend a fortune on uniforms, just a nice collared shirt with the OPA and AMF logos plus your team name. We’ll even give you the OPA and AMF patches to have sewn on. OPA is on a mission to elevate the status of the sport while maintaining our grass roots philosophy toward our competition model. Having “Hero Cards” made with your teams info and photos would be another step in the right direction. If you want the fans to root for your team, they must be able to get to know you a bit while visiting the dry pits. Stepping up to a higher degree of professionalism will benefit everyone in the long run. So, take some measurements and order your team apparel, we want you to all look your best this year.

We've also been bombarded with race sites wanting to host races. The current list of possible race sites include:

Point Pleasant NJ
Atlantic City NJ
Ocean City MD
Cambridge MD
Cincinnati OH
Madison IN
Algonac MI
St Clair MI
Camden NJ

Madison Indiana maybe a ways off from our normal stomping ground but it's an awesome site with lots of racing history (rent the movie MADISON) and they are offering a $50,000 purse! When have you seen a $10,000 payout per class to the P Class boats?

We are also in negotiations with the Offshore Super Series to do a few joint races. If we can come to an agreement, the OSS teams will join us in Cambridge Maryland and then we'll join then in St Clair and Pickwick. We look forward to working with the OSS teams as a little harmony between the sanctioning bodies goes a long way toward improving the sport that we all love.

At this time we are planning our winter meeting and awards party. Originally we wanted to have a meeting in January and the awards party in February but that would cause some teams to travel a long distance twice over the winter. We are now planning a single event, where we'll have the racers meeting to discuss rules for an hour or two prior to the party. As soon as the date and location is locked in, we'll send you an email with the information.

In order to make the meeting go as smoothly and quickly as possible, please put your thoughts together about any rule adjustments that you would like to see made and send them to Smitty at [email protected].

Thank you for your support of our efforts.
