phantom race svl
new race boat question

hi
We have bought a 30' phantom and are thinking about running with OPA next season. Are there any phantoms running with opa? what class are they running in p4? We have to rig the boat and are trying to decide what to run for a motor. Any suggestions?
thanks,
Scott

Yes, Simply Awesome has a 30 phantom as well, he runs the Mercury 525,
which makes him legal, in OSS SVL.

30' Phantom SVL
Re: new race boat question

Bring it on buddy. Plenty of SVLs running OPA 2 Phantoms and an Xtreme.

We are racing P-4 which is 85 mph max speed. Didnt you buy the Kiss Of Fire? Arent you going to run a 525efi for SVL in OSS.

If im not mistaken, your boat needs to go on a diet, just like mine did.
If you run with OSS, you'll obviously need the 525efi. If not, drop in 600 hp and you'll be fine in P4 in OPA. I hope you set it up to run OSS though.

Re: new race boat question

yes bruce we bought the kiss of fire boat it has a canopy. You gave us a bunch of good info about it and SVL few months ago thanks again for your help. We have been debating if we should go with the 525 so we could run some svl races too. We live in NY and OPA would be easier for us to run. If we run OPA we where thinking 600hp and it would make a little less work setting up the boat. This will be our first season racing so we really just want to get some experience in the most affordable and reasonable way. Your phantom looks great bruce We hope to meet up with you sometime soon.

RACE BOATS
Re: new race boat question

This is a easy topic. Buy a Merc. 525 end of future problems.

Merc 525:
Reliability
OSS legal
Resale value
Merc Support at OSS races
Contingency $
Factory support
Prevent power
EFI system
Guardian mode

No name motor:
Less expensive

Here's another Phantom that will be running in Class 4 with OPA next year. Look for her to debute in Destin.
