Hey Smitty, What happens if a boat leaves the start before the pace boat released us and green flag was not out yet?

The Starter (in the pace boat with green flag) has the responsibility of making sure the race start goes off clean. If there are starting infractions, then the starter would report it to scoring.

Brian is correct, If the official saw an infraction, we would have been notified. It is his call. Smitty

Question is ...does the official know what to look for? I was watching the OC race and noticed a couple boats jumping in front of the pace boat before the green. Not mentioning any names (JC) Just something that needs to be addressed.

Actually, the problem is with the teams. The rule is the boats need to stay 100ft behind the Pace boat. When the inside boat crowds the pace boat the outside boats have no choice other than to move up in order to see the yellow or green flag. The starter would have to penalize the entire start. This will be addressed at the next race in Patchogue. Smitty
