Exactly. If you are building a purpose-built engine strictly for high rpm use torque is typically sacrificed, especially with a N/A engine.

They would be perfect for the Mirage. Only problem we would have to move up to Class 3 LOL

I don't know the engine details, but I can tell you they came directly from a NASCAR team and have the absolute best of everything. Knowing Ray, they make every bit the numbers he lists.

Unleashed did have 525s a long time ago, most recently it has had 750 Supercats.

Whats the aprox max torque you can build into a small block on gas only and nat. asperated? I thought torque was mainly a product of cubic inch. Can the top half of the motor make that much difference.I am only asking for interest only. I have no motor skills at all and find it interesting.

In the early 90's for our b class boat we made 450 lbs torque 613 hp at 7200 RPM with a 23 degree head on 372 inches 13 to 1. With todays heads you can get way more. The current small block is good for 550 hp in a marine engine that will last longer then a 525 and only rev 5500 RPM.

Steve if all that is true then why dont more people run small blocks. Is it because you need race fuel? I would think a SB would be way cheaper to build as well. What happened to the saying "There is no replacement for displacement" Are we going into a new era? Less weight, lower cost, more reliable?

We ran small block 350's all year. Had trouble in the exccelration department but other then that they worked great in our old tub. Working on a couple more Hp's for next year and hopefully we can keep from getting hosed down the first lap.LOL

I am working on a small block package using parts from the Nascar teams they have left over. We are working with Joe Nemechek and Joe Garone from Furniture Row Racing. We are doing a complete build and filming a show with Lou Santiago in Charrlotte, NC. We ran the 32 Sunsation with the stock 6.2 small blocks and filmed the before and now the boat is at my shop and we are building some 434ci smallblocks using the SB2 heads and intakes, dry sump oiling. I am also putting a throttlebody on and a Mefi4B controller so the Nasboat motor will be fuel injected. I also had Diamond racing pistons make me 9.1 compression pistons so we can run on pump gasoline. We are using a Dart block that is .325 taller and it has a .391 raised camshaft to clear the Winburg 4.00 stroke crankshaft. We had CMI build the sport tube headers to fit the SB2 heads. I am building the engines now and we are finished we are taking the boat to Daytona for Speed week and we will run the boat and finish filming the show.
