Tug It bought Wil's boat (Wild Card). Same Phantom hull. They might be doing some races together so Wil is more comfortable in his boat than Kevin's Tug It. Kevin cant keep 2 boats so he is giving the black one away IMO.
Anyone interested its a OPA sealed merc 525 legal boat ready to race as is.

Just curious Randy. If someone showed up with an Outerlimits with a factory sealed 525 is i legal to race OPA or to many steps?? Would the Bad Boy SVL be legal for the class or is the class length 30'? Where could I take a peak at the OPA SVL rules? Online?

As Randy said earlier in this thread multi step boats are legal, on page 27 its states that they have to have a minimum weight of 5000 lbs at first race and will be adjusted for parity thereafter

FYI - the RULE BOOK is and will always be available to the general public!

Go to the OPA website and click on "RULES " on the navigation bar then click on "RULE BOOK" button

Cool

I read entire rules for the class and pretty much got it. One question I have is with the length. So does it mean the boat bow to stern has to be 30' and the 32' overall is for bustles and beaks or is a 32' like the Bad Boy aloud to compete. Not trying to stir pot, just trying to understand. Would prefer the answer come from someone in the class like Randy, etc.

Weights and Dimensions:
Hull type: Monohull
Length minimum 26' 0"
Length maximum

Bow to Transom

30’ 0”
Length maximum Overall: 32' 0"
Beam minimum: 6’ 6”
Beam m
aximum: 8' 6"
Number of engines: 1

The rules in OPA state the boat needs to be 30' from bow to stern. If you have a busell or some sort of extension hanging off the back of your boat that is not running surface then it must not make the overall length more than 32'. The Bad Boy boat is grandfathered in and is a 32' boat running surface. The boat was built approx 6 years ago when a 32' boat was legal in the class for OPA/OSS/APBA/SBI. The class agreed that grandfathering in that one boat and only that one boat was OK. We are pleased to welcome Howard into the class. As of know this is the line up of SVL boats to race in OPA for 2013
Typhoon
Octane
Pirates
Wild Ride
Lavy Craft
Wild Card
Pig Iron
Tug It
Rumors of possibly more.

All these teams believe in spec racing and believe the sealed Merc. 525 is the best option for power. We all have the exact same motor package from Merc as a single source supplier and rebuilder.
