Any OPA Class 7 teams looking for a strong motor?
I have a 2002 250XB, This was Mercury racing "Fishing motor", they made approx 270hp and with a 300 ECU and cowl mod they make closer to 280 plus!
Gary bought this engine to run on the PFE Superboat, but sold the boat to one of his employees who raced the boat once and figured it was not for him.. the boat was sold and I bought the engine to try on the cat... long story short I never tried it and the motor has been sitting in my garage all summer.
2002 Mercury 250 XB - *(Info from previous seller) - 184 hrs on a Mercury re-manufactured power head (approx 270hp) Mercury 300 ECU already installed and with a simple cowl mod expect 280hp plus. 20" mid with standard fleetmaster lower with top holes on the water pick up plugged. Compression and leak all well with in service range. * Gary did do a Leak and compression test before I bought the engine from him and all was great.
The cowling is a newer style, lighter Opti with the skirt was cut for a stubby wing plate that was made for a short hydraulic steering ram. Cowl is in good shape, I just need to remove his company's sticker from it.
Asking $5500.00 - just bolt up and go.
