39 Stelito or 38 Lighting
Wife and I are looking for a bigger boat. Presently we have a 29 Fever and we want to move up to a bigger boat to really enjoy the PR. I found a 1999 37 Stiletto 740 Cobra's and I have also been eyeing a 2001 38 Lightning w/500 efi's. Which one to get? Any insight would be appreciated.

Be very careful of the 37 if you are running bravo drives. The 37 Stiletto is a very large boat, a lot bigger than the 38 fountain. We had a 37 in our area with 750 cobras and bravos, he went through a lot of drives which really made him sell the boat. That is one of the major reasons my Dad bought a 37 with #6 drives, no drive issues to date.

I owned a 97 37 Outerlimits with 750hp supercharged motors with bravos on boxes for 5 years. Absolutely loved the boat. I raised the motors 1 inch to install the long drive shaft into the rubber coupling on the back of the flywheel as opposed to the short shaft found in the Stellings boxes. All of the gears and shafts were upgraded to Imco with good reliability. At this stage it seems like there are some better drive options from Imco, Teague and Max. Bought another 37 about 18 months ago with 6s and bigger power.

Go with the 37'! And don't be afraid of the bravos. Treat her right, and she'll treat your pocket right too!
