I bet they last as long as 1100 Sterlings. The biggest issue with big blocks is the valvetrain. We work real hard on the Nascar stuff cause without overhead cams there is alot going on in the top end of the motor & that's usually where the problems start. As long as you keep good oil & prime the motors after they set a while & don't beat on them with cold oil the bottom ends are pretty solid.
I check lash every 20-25 hrs, Replace the springs and send the rockers to be tested and rebuilt every 75 hrs, replace the cam, lifters, springs and rockers every 150 hrs, Would be a lot less work running hyd! Any thoughts ??

The problem is mainly the amount of moving parts. Hyd lifters would ok but the main reason for checking lash is to try & catch parts wearing out or if your lucky getting ready to break. I would leave what you have if it's working ok. If you hard you should really do everything your doing already. I dont think hyd lifters would save you any work.
