New Kilo Run?

Anybody know if there are any plans for OL, Fountain or any others to go for a new kilo run record? It was alot of fun to see the boats being pushed a few years ago. Perhaps the economy is not the best right now for new top speed challenges. Still, it was a great time in performance boating.

Gotcha. Is that the reason Mike never came back with the XXX boat to try again?

Ziggy,

Although 177 Mph is very fast and would be a challenge, the reason that OL has not continued the quest to top that was there wasn't any benefit to the customers to spend the time and money required to keep that up. I can say that 177 is not out of the question. Mike chose to devote his resources to Poker Run's and Racing which has allowed Outerlimits to develop great products like the SV 40 and SV 43 which proves a better benefit to his customers.

XXX was extremely fast at 161 +, but the fact that was missed during the battle for fastest V Bottom, was that XXX was a fully equiped pleasure boat that competed in every Poker Runs America Poker Run for 2 Seasons.

What good is being the fastest if that product didn't represent what your customers were actually able to purchase?

37' Outerlimits
if you want a run of the mill boat them by all means go buy a fountain. you want quality and something you don't see every day then buy an outerlimits. lets not froget who's paying the bill over at brunswick i mean fountain. it's easy to spend money when it's not yours, i would love to go for the land speed record with my corvette if GM was paying the bill but that's not the case and the same goes for ol. ol is concerned with its customer base can you say the same for fountain, nope.

Who's best in the rough is what matters?????

once I heard an expeienced racer say "the rough water is what seperates the men from the boys" -- I don't remember his name - and he said it after he got his ass handled by his competitor in a rough water cond. race.

If i will be buying a boat I won't be using it to go at 177mph in mirror water conditions. + I want to have a pleasure boat that at least I can move around in it.

I have no hard feelings for fountain but the truth is the truth.. But they are the record holders - Congratulations to them.

Outerlimits builds a more exclusive boat than Fountain everybody knows that. But they are both customer-orientated but in a different way, Fountain goes after kilo-runs to prove his product is superior, Outerlimits does a beautiful job on building a boat that sells itself and they offer support at poker runs to keep their clients boating.

The major difference is the fountain kilo boat is not available to the public, and does not represent what the consumer can purchase. XXX was a production boat. Regardless the run was very fast and Reggie should be proud.
