Engine casting numbers

I just checked my identification numbers on my block and it read 14098859. I checked the net and found a site for GM motor ID numbers, scrolled down to find mine, and only found one close that was 14096859. This is a V8 502 Gen V HO. I went and rechecked my number and I was right(14098859). I want to assume that my engine is also a 502 V8 Gen V HO. Can anyone tell me if this is right? Can anyone give me info on where to look to find my exact number? Thanks!

Re: Engine casting numbers

Is it possible that yours is the 14096859 and the 6 looks like an 8? Maybe dirty or poor stamp? Seems a little too close, and lack of finding the other number might warrant a second closer look at the casting. Just my $.02

Re: Engine casting numbers

Yeah, thats very possible. I thought the same thing,so I rechecked it and near as I can tell it looks like an 8,but Like you said, could be a bad casting job. Not too dirty though. Thanks again for the input!
