P6 OPA any 24 Panteras coming out to race?
OPA is offering P6 as an entry level class with boats under 26' and up to 70 mph, a 24 Pantera seems like a perfect boat for this class. OPA also eliminated entry fees, so will any 24's show up for this new class? I know of one 1979 24' that is signed up-"Friendship I".

Possibly the new U.S. ARMY sponsored Pantera 24' will do a few North East races with OPA either in P5 or in this new P6 class.

Are the rules posted on the web somewhere? I would guess that alongside the Panteras would be Donzi 22's Velocity 22's and 26's, Avantis, Activators, Superboat 21 and 24's Magnum's Cigarette 20's and 24's Skater21's Carerra 257's Shadow 21's DCB 26's Formula 242's Scarab 26's Progression 24's And the list could go on and on depending on rules Seems like a great class because you could use stock power or at least something that does not require frequent teardown. I personally think that the Pantera 24 would have a good advantage in this class followed by the Velocity 26 as a close contender as far as hulls go. Driver skill and setup would be paramount compared to cubic dollars as in the bigger classes.

Iron,
Check out OPA's website for the rules: www.oparacing.com
If you click on "paperwork" there is a link that pops up for the rules. Generally the rules for this class are simple-26' and under, max speed 70mph. I agree with you that one could run a boat with stock power and race. The skill level really comes into play with the ocean races-Pt. Pleasant NJ, and Ocean City Md.
Do you have a boat? For those of us who are geographically challenged, where is "Dome Island"?? Hope to see you racing!

Thanks for the link. Dome island is in Lake George, Upstate NY. Great place just no sanctioned powerboat racing since early days of gold cup. I currently have two Panteras and some other boats. Good luck with the P6
