You have another option for props, are you familiar with the Mercury Flo Torq hub system?
Turning Point Propeller now makes a Flo Torq style adapter which will allow you to run Mercury props on your Volvo out drive.

wow thanks for that, i have sent the chap an email to see what he can do for me but that would certainly resolve my prop issues as the guys down here have loads of merc props i could borrow to try to see what works best

the kit is on the way to go mercruiser, now i have to have a guess at what size of prop to pick for that boat and engine.
anyone got a clue as when i then fit this i will need another prop

I would recommend a 21p Mirage plus. Are you going to try and find one in the UK and bring it with you Spain? I could ask some jolly good mates in Poole if they have something.

yes Jeff i would bring from the UK so if anyone had a second hand one for sale that would be ideal. i gather it has to be compatible with a merc flo-torq 11 and not just any Merc albeit i am not sure what that means in reality.the fact that is was specifed by name would make me thing there are others out there that wouldnt fit.
