I never really checked my burn...
Though I can tell you that the boat really doesn't do too bad at cruise (twin 502 Mags)... Run it at 4500 with the occasional wfo blasts and it definately burns plenty more. I seldom get to run it at wfo though....

For the sake of chatter...
I run these Cigs that have fuel flow meters.... It's common to see 75 gal/hr out of a small blower motor...each....

It'd be no problem to burn 75+ GPH on a single 28 with real power...

I wonder what WTs single 496HO boat burns at ...50mph cruise....???
Thats probably 4200rpm....

Thought: The single will have more prop slip as well...

Tim, I do hear you on the mild power, If you have it in your head your going to run mild AND cruise at 45-50 mph then you're buzzing your mild engine, hard on fuel and parts in the long run.

Mine cruises 48-52 @ 3600 depending on load, which is where I log most of the hrs. I got my slip down with my 25" P5x, yes I said 25". Sure miss my Cat- it cruised 10 faster, same conditions, relatively same power.

I still think about something with twins one of these days, thought the 28 single is plenty for where I go, just miss the twins at docking etc, though I'm getting better.

Tim, just out of curiousity, how tall are you? Seems like there isn't a whole lot of freeboard on that boat (never seen one in person, so I'm guessing based on the pics).

I am 5'10" and I have NOOOO Problem with the freeboard......

My Girl is 5 foot nothing, and has BIGGGGGGG problems with it........

even from the backseat, so I guess its just how big your package is!!!!!!

The boats are VERRRY Solid, very stable, and fly very straight, I dont care how much freeboard you got, if something goes wrong........

your going swimming!!!!!!!

rchevelle, we've got a couple of concerns you might not - a 2 1/2 year old and one on the way. High freeboard is definitely a must for us...

Dockrocker
The 28 is not a low freeboard boat at all....you should not have a problem unless you are let's say........7' tall.

I can understand your concerns with the kids and I'm sure once you step in a 28 you'll see it should not be a problem at all.
