Seemed to be a pretty poor turn out this year for the Smoke. We ran from St. Joseph up to South Haven to see the boats come in to pick up card there 2nd card. My guess is less than 40 boats in all showed. Anyone know what happened? I was told there were 80 boats this year.

70 boats were registered and paid for, but there were several that did not show because of breakdowns or other misfortunes. My guess is that the final count was between 60 and 65. Yes, less than in years past, but the boats that were there were SMOKIN'!

Yes there were some very nice boats. But my guess is less than 40 came through South Haven. I did notice a lot of the big cats were missing this year. One good thing is that a friend of mine now has the bug and the cruisers going up for sale.

We launched the boat from St. Joe as well and cruised up to South Haven from there to watch the boats come in. I was a little surprised how few boats there were this year compared to last year, but it was fun to watch and it was a very nice sunny day. It was a bit windy, and the water conditions had smoothed out a bit as we headed back south to St.Joe.

I was waiting for the fleet at the card stop in White lake after lunch and less than 30 made the leg, what a shame it was beautiful, a little lumpy but nice. I noticed that the Saber guys were out in force Parnell and the rest of the 42's were lookin good.Only 2 cats made it that far north an all white what I think looked like an MTI with a canopy and Ruthless from GH made it up.....Hope next year the gas prices go down and we see some more awsome hardware!

Re: Smoke On The Water...Grand Haven, MI
Some of my firends were turn boats and were told that several boats quit
due to the rough water. He only handed out about 30 cards in White Lake and I was told there was 50+ in the run........

Re: Smoke On The Water...Grand Haven, MI
by the way the final count was more in the 80+ participant boats
Fast forward is using slow math
Lots of breakage and lots of boats not willing to risk equipment as the water got rougher
The DVD will have some incredible footage
