The LGPC works for ALL people in NY, as the NY taxpayer supports them. The organizer of this run was owed a legitimate reason for this cancellation and due proccess to address the issues.

This is government out of control.

As a lifelong boater on LG, I can tell you 65 mph in October is absolutely not a safety issue. If the LGPC has facts to the contrary, they owe it to the taxpayers and organizers to provide it. Failure to do so is an abuse of power.

This certainly appears to be nothing more than this agency attempting to keep high performance boats off this lake and that should not be their decision.

I think the next steps need to be discussion with the overseers of this agency in Albany. They need to understand how the LGPC operates.

The LGPC is basically a legalized racketeering organization. They force people to buy boat LGPC stickers and then spend all summer going around the lake checking for stickers. I agree it is totally govt out of control. If the the LGPC vanished tomorrow nothing would change. It was gone for many years in the 80s and the lake survived. The only people that suffered were the many no-work/no-show employees at the LGPC.

you should see what you have to go through to build a dock, or even change the configuration of a current dock.

Why waste any more energy or heartburn here. While Lake George is beautiful, who needs the attitude. It's like trying to push a rope uphill.

The good news is we have options in the region, and frankly it's a whole lot more enjoyable bringing our $$ to a community that appreciates us.

If these geniuses aren't bright enough to understand or care about the economics associated with events such as this, then they certainly aren't going to have the capacity to understand a reasonable discussion....nor care about the negative stigma they are creating about their community in a demographic that provides positive contributions - both philanthropic and economic (many poker runs donate to charities as well as "socialize" in local establishments).

Last time I checked Sacandaga, Champlain and the Hudson welcome performance boating with open arms and are relatively close to Lake George.

I think Bon Jovi even wrote a song for these short sighted beaurocrats -> HAVE A NICE DAY!

You make good points, but I'd like to know why as a taxpayer I'm being fored away from this place?

Who put them in charge and why do they have the authority to do what they did? BTW - this is not the only issue with this group. There are regular rulings from the LGPC that negatively impact the local economy.

I can tell you first hand that local gov't was all for this event. They are the same folks that support Americade and the Adirondack Nationals. They saw this run as a great way to promote the lake in a shoulder season.

I'm hopeful that the LGPC's recent behavoir will finally cause something to be done.

And I hope Norm keeps the pressure on.

If we do not fight it, nothing will change.

BINGO! don't forget charging you to have a dock.
Notice the huge fine they just nailed someone for, because one of the water cops saw boats tied up at a former class A marina. The fine was in 6 figures.

When the town has bike week or the hot rod weekend the town turns a blind eye.My friend goes all the time with his 1400hp street camaro and does brun outs in front of duffy's bar, or burns the tire off his 540ci murlin nitros 1300hp bike. Rides his 454 big bock with open header bar stool, yes bar stool ,while the chops want a turn. He also has a nice 32 spactor. But what I am wondering is why all the fuss about a few boats going down the lake. f them and their lake. But I guess we dont mean enough $ so we are easy to pit on for* liberal tree huggers.

Keep in mind that Duther who owns Americaide is one of the biggest anti power boat people that live on the lake. Noise is okay as long as he is making money.
