Looks like all the safety meetings we have had as organizers over the years still hasn't sunk in.

From the pictures I have seen it looks like NOT wearing life jackets was the rule.

Sorry for the rant but this is totally UNEXCEPTABLE at an organized event.
Thanks for your $.02. Not wearing life jackets was not a rule, we do request that people wear them at their own descretion. Most of us, including me, did not on that day for our run. I'm sorry that it is not acceptable for you.

PS- I fixed a few things in your post when I quoted it.

My point exsactly why was it not a rule

It is not acceptable to many people and after sitting through many meetings on this i cant believe anyone would think it is ok duriing an organized event to go without the saftey jackets

Is my oppinion but shared by many, and most (not all) poker run producers now a day have made it manditory

Thanks for sharing your opinion. My opinion is that I don't run my boat any differently on an organized run than I do when I go out for a ride with my family or friends. There is no difference to me between the two in the world that I live in. For what it's worth....I did have my lanyard on.

Congrats. You are welcome to tow your boat down for one of our runs anytime. We certainly won't try to discourage you from wearing a life jacket!

As a club we have had several discussions on this issue and the board of directors decided for this year to take a stance of highly recommending the use of PFD's during all of our runs. We will revisit it again during the off season. During the captains/safety meeting prior to this run I expressed that to all of the participants but ultimately it was left up to each individual.

I personally endorse the use of PFD's during these type of events on certain boats and on my own boat. I was fortunate enough to make the first half of this run on a 48 Fountain Express Cruiser and was more than comfortable not wearing a PFD. I did however where my seat belt for the second half of the run in the heli.

I certainly respect your opinion and at the same time we respect the personal choice of our of participants to wear them or not.
